Love the variety of your suggestions here but am fascinated as to how well I can grow an apple tree in a container. Guess if I can grow a lemon tree, why not? I have about 5 Aloe Ferox plants in containers and they actually flourish better than the ones that are in the ground. They are similar to Aloe Vera plants but I believe are superior for skin treatments and especially for sunburn. They are excellent in a detox - juice half a peeled aloe leaf with 500ml water, 3 apples, 1cm fresh ginger, and 1 lemon. Or add to any smoothie. Make sure to harvest the bottom largest leaf that is about to die, rather than the top new leaves as you will kill the plant.

I am a certified commercial energy auditor, and I believe that energy conservation is the best place to start your own "green movement." It can be simple, inexpensive, and painless. Usually it just takes a little change of habit, and after a little repetition you won't even think about it anymore. Here are a few ideas to get the ball rolling:

Turn out the lights when you leave the room.
Change filters on your furnace & air conditioners... regularly.
Lower the thermostat 2 degrees in the winter and raise it 2 in the summer.
Keep refrigerator and freezer full.
Close window shades on hot summer days to reduce solar gain, and at night during winter to retain heat.
Unplug chargers when not in use to eliminate "phantom load."

Well, there's the tip of the iceberg. Remember, recycle, reuse, and most importantly, reduce!

The idea to use good bugs is an interesting thought. Thanks for this takeaway.

Do you have some useful tips for chasing away moles and gophers and can I use them on my site? My site is mainly about sonic mole chasers and I would like to expand the theme by growing it as a pest repeller site
